Recent Recalls From Honda, Hyundai and Ford
Auto-makers Honda, Hyundai, and Ford have recently recalled a significant number of its popular vehicles. Worldwide, Honda has recalled over 300,000 vehicles, Hyundai has recalled over 200,000 vehicles, and Ford has recalled over 424,000 vehicles.
Honda announced a recall of Honda CR-Vs and Acura ILX, citing a door latch malfunction that could possibly cause the passenger or driver’s side door to open randomly while the vehicles are in motion.
Hyundai announced a recall of Santa Fe SUVs, model years 2007 through 2009, and Sonatas, model years 2012 and 2013, citing unrelated airbag issues.
The Ford recall may be perhaps the most serious, reporting that a cruise control defect may cause the throttle to stick, leading to unintended acceleration. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced it was investigating the safety defect July 17, based on 99 complaints, including 13 involving Ford vehicle crashes, one of which killed a 17-year-old Arizona girl.
