Another Person Dies in Motorcycle Accident

Another motorcycle accident has left another motorcyclist dead. The St. Petersburg Times reports that the motorcyclist was hit by a car that swerved into his lane. The motorcycle accident occurred in Land O’Lakes at about 11:24 p.m. on Thursday.

John A. Lauer was headed north on Oakstead Boulevard south of Ashmonte Drive. He was driving a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle at the time of the accident. The other driver, Tegan Barbato, 34, was headed south on Oakstead and “failed to drive within a single lane,” veering into Lauer’s path. Although Lauer tried to avoid the motorcycle accident by dropping his motorcycle to the ground, Tegan Barbato failed to return to her lane and ran him over.

The motorcyclist, Lauer, died at the scene. The St. Petersburg Times also reports that the police report states that alcohol and drug tests are pending and that the accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information should contact the Florida Highway Patrol at (352) 797-5737.
