Florida truck accident results in fatality
According to reports, the truck accident occurred in Hawthorne, Florida, on US 301 near Southeast 57th Avenue. The Walmart tractor-trailer was apparently heading north on US 301 around 7 a.m. on June 22. Authorities reports that the driver of the semi lost control of the truck and ended up crossing the median of the road before hitting the pickup truck, which was traveling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Walmart tractor-trailer was transported to UF Health, a medical facility in Gainesville, and was expected to survive. The 72-year-old man who was driving the pickup truck was pronounced dead by responders at the scene. The southbound lanes of US 301 were closed after the crash, and the investigation by Florida State Patrol is ongoing.
Surviving victims of these types of accidents should understand all of their legal options. Even in cases where a victim dies from injuries suffered in a semi accident, the surviving family members may be able to pursue a lawsuit against any negligent parties, seeking damages for loss of companionship or wrongful death.
